Code of Conduct for Parents and Supporters
  1. Never use foul or abusive language or get drawn into disputes. Youngsters may not always understand the language used by adults but they are always aware of emotions so please do not let them down.
  2. Appreciate good football and always encourage sportsmanship.
  3. Learn more about the Laws of Association Football so that you can appreciate what a difficult job the referee and his/her assistants have sometimes. Never criticize the officials, opposition or argue with decisions.
  4. Encourage the whole team when they are playing and do not single out players for criticism. It is the manager’s job to coach the team and it is his/her instructions the players should follow.
  5. If your son/daughter is unhappy, encourage them to speak to the manager, or you do so, rationally and calmly, on their behalf. If they wish to change clubs through the season, make sure they follow the correct procedure for the League in which they are playing.
  6. Remember why you are at the game. You are there to support your child, not play football through him/her. Please have realistic expectations of your child’s age and capabilities.

Code of Conduct for Players

  1. Show respect at all times for your team mates, manager, referee and opposition players and coach.
  2. Accept the referee’s and assistant referee’s decision when given, even when you disagree. The referee’s decision is always final.
  3. Never use foul or abusive language or get drawn into arguments or fights.
  4. Only play for the team that you are registered for throughout the season. If you wish to play for a different team, do so in the correct manner by following the rules set down by the League in which you play. Keep your manager informed of your decision.
  5. Always try your best in training and matches and try to play good football. Football is a team game, not an opportunity to show your individual brilliance at the expense of the team.
  6. Above all, ENJOY your football.

Code of Conduct for Managers/Coaches

  1. Understand that children play soccer to have fun:- Place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance.
  2. Treat everyone fairly and give them all equal opportunities
  3. Set a positive example for the players by consistently displaying high standards of behaviour and appearance.
  4. Respect the opposing team and referees and promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the Laws of the Game, behaviour contrary to the spirit of the Laws of the Game or relevant rules and regulations, or the use of prohibited substances or techniques.
  5. Do not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.
  6. Stick to the guidelines laid down by the respective League and the Rules of The Football Association.
  7. Develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect.
  8. Encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.
  9. Ensure that the activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of players.
  10. Clarify with the player (and, where appropriate, their parents) exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect
  11. Co-operate fully with other specialists (e.g. other coaches, officials, sports scientists, doctors, physiotherapists) in the best interests of the player.
  12. Seek to improve their coaching techniques and skills and those of any interested helpers.
  13. Seek assistance about poor practice and possible abuse from the club’s Child Protection Officer (Helen Hopkinson) or the NSPCC 0808800 5000 (help@nspcc.org.uk).

Any breach of any provision(s) of this Code of Conduct should be brought to the attention of the club’s managing body:

Chairman:

Steve Jones (3 South Drive, WOKINGHAM, RG40 2DH)

Vice-Chairman :

Ian Blackham (18 Charwood Road, WOKINGHAM, RG40 1RY)
